What is sound healing therapy?
Sound healing is a gentle, yet powerful, practice that has been used around the world for centuries. Using audio tones and vibrational frequencies, we can repair damaged tissues and cells within the physical body. And because “healing” is not an isolated phenomenon, not only is sound beneficial for the physical, but for the emotional, mental, and spiritual body as well.
How does sound healing work?
A simple equation to understand how sound healing works is: frequency + intention = healing.
First, we’ll start with frequency.
Everything has a resonant frequency (AKA a natural sound created by an object’s inherent, natural vibration) whether we can hear it or not. This includes every organ in our body, every tissue in that organ, and every cell that makes up that tissue. Disease happens when parts of the body are not vibrating at their optimal resonant frequency. Healing sound helps to “tune” those diseased areas back into their optimal and original state of vibration, harmonizing the body back into health.
Now, the power of intention.
Intention is the energy behind the sound; It’s the consciousness the sound healer has when creating the sound, which ultimately determines how beneficial it is for the person receiving it. This phenomenon is best illustrated by Japanese scientist Dr. Masaru Emoto's world-renowned studies on the effects of consciousness on water, which demonstrated the ability of sole intention to change the molecular structure of physical matter. These findings were further confirmed in a triple-blind study in the years following.
This true power of a sound healer’s intention coupled with the right frequency instilled by her healing instruments are the basis of sound healing and its enormous potential to restore physical, emotional, and spiritual wholeness.
What are the benefits of sound healing?
Decreased levels of physical pain
Decreased feelings of anxiety and depression
Less tension, anger, and fatigue
Improved heart rate and blood pressure —> decreased risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke
Increased feelings of spiritual well-being
Opportunity for psychological and emotional release
Feelings of clarity, balance, and deep relaxation
While the general approach of conventional medicine is to eradicate or “kill off” illness from your body, the general approach of alternative therapies, such as sound healing, is to restore, enhance, and strengthen your body to be better equipped to overcome what no longer serves you.
